Are you ready to fall in love with Prague? Prague was always this really foreign place to me that I couldn’t even imagine. My friend moved to Prague to teach right after we graduated from college and I was always so curious what it was like for her. We were able to reunite 15 years later! She helped me find the best bars, towers, and of course vegan restaurants. It was easy to fall in love with Prague.

Where To Stay in Prague :

Grandior Hotel Prague is the perfect location for a first time visitor without a car. The hotel also has the famous beer spa/bath.

Don’t forget your travel insurance! We recommend World Nomads. Make sure to have coverage that includes medical expenses, trip cancellations, and coverage for your belongings from theft or damage. If needed, you may also want to include car rental insurance as well.

Fall in Love With Prague: Old Town Square

I have to mention that the street performers in Prague’s Old Town Square were pretty phenomenal compared to the other European squares that we have visited. Also make sure to see the Astronomical clock in action. I’m obsessed with these clocks. The only other one that I have seen was in Strasbourg, France. I think they are so extraordinary.

Fall in Love with Prague

I researched and researched about things to do in Prague and I kept reading about all of these towers. There is the Lesser Tower, Old Bridge Tower, Powder Tower, New Mill Tower, and the Petrin Tower. I chose to go up the Lesser Tower because of its views. Be aware that the top few stairs are a little quirky. By this I mean that it feels like you are climbing into a treehouse. I think I chose the right one to climb. The views were pretty spectacular.

It cost 100 crowns to visit, which is about $4.30 US dollars. You can use the gold convert app to help you with the money conversions.

The John Lennon Wall and John Lennon Pub were the top two places that my husband had to see while in Prague. They aren’t too far from the castle so it would make sense to head towards them right after a castle viewing. The Prague Castle is free after 5:00 PM. A big event is watching the guards change. Check out the hyperlink for more information.

We were there in January and it was cold but perfect because there weren’t too many tourists taking over the town. After visiting the John Lennon pub, we walked by the water to view the swans. Prague is really beautiful at night.

Fall in Love With Prague: Bars and Nightlife

Letna Beer Garden would be the spot to go to during the warmer months. If traveling during the colder months, check out Lokal. Actually check it if out its summer too!

Cash Only Bar is near the Charles Bridge where they serve a great gin and tonic. Motel One is also another great cocktail bar close to the hotel mentioned above. It’s an upscale lounge type of spot.

For wine, I have to recommend going to the square to people watch. You can cozy up under an outdoor heater with a blanket at the White Horse.

Shopping:

Celetna Street is the best for the souvenirs.

Palladium is a big shopping mall that is perfect to visit in January when its quite chilly outside.

Kotva is also a big mall that has a great view of the town from the top floor.

Prague’s Best Museums to Visit:

Museum of Communism

Jewish Museum of Prague

A Few Words to Know:

Fall in Love with Prague’s Vegan Options:

It was hard not to fall in love with Prague when I started to see the variety of vegan restaurants that were available. The city was FULL of vegan spots within the center city. I had a blast traveling around finding all of these sites. I have found it to be one of the easiest places to eat vegan or vegetarian in Europe.

Forkys is an awesome vegan spot. Its about a 5 minute walk from the main square. This was a great lunch spot close to the Jewish Quarter.

Clear Head has cool crazy artsy vibe and a dreamy starry mural ceiling. It was my favorite restaurant in Prague. lehkahlava.cz. Make sure to have reservations.

Maitrea is a nice venue right by the square with plenty of vegan options. All of the menu items are labeled clearly.

Vegans Prague is right by the castle. They have amazing vegan burgers and raw vegan desserts. It also has a rooftop view.

Loving Hut was also a great spot right across from the hotel and a perfect spot to people watch from the giant window upstairs. It’s a buffet style vegan restaurant. They also have a store downstairs for grab and go food items. loving hut.cz

Estrella was one that I didn’t visit but it’s known for its vegan pho.

Prague’s Walking Tours:

Prague has vegan walking tours @ Ilikeveggie.com

I had a local friend to help me navigate around the city, but this link is great if you are looking for more information on Prague walking tours or more information on Prague in general.

If I ever get the opportunity to visit again, I would love to check out a few more of the towers. I would also love to see the Karlstejn Castle! Have you visited any of these places? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

In this blog, I’ve shared a ton of links. I hope that it helps you to fall in love with Prague during your visit. Are you looking for another great city to visit? You may be interested in reading my Krakow, Poland blog post. As always, thanks for stopping by!
