Paris The City of Love (Ile de France Region)
Paris, the city of light and love, offers so much more than just the Eiffel Tower. The capital of France has a whopping population of around 2.1 million residents so it’s oozing with culture from all over the world. This city has been our home for several years so I hope that our Parisian bucket list blogpost will help you to create some amazing travel experiences! Discover The Ultimate Paris Bucket List We also have a blogpost about How to Spend a Day in Montmarte Paris.
Bordeaux (Nouvelle- Aquitane Region)
Bordeaux is located in the southwestern part of France and includes a left bank and right bank. It’s the fifth largest city in the country with a population close to 250,000 people. Bordeaux is famous for its fine red wine, vineyards, and chateaux. It also has the largest sand dunes in all of Europe. The temperate oceanic climate, culture, cuisine, and history make it a dreamy destination for everyone. Plan your trip to the Vineyards!
Brittany (Bretagne Region)
Brittany, France’s most northwestern region, is famous for its crepes, cider, and well rain! I fell in love with this region for its landscapes and natural beauty. Brittany is also famous for its Pink Granite Coast. The salty ocean and fresh sea air will make you want to stay in Bretagne forever. The capital of this region is Rennes, but our blogposts will take you to two resort seaside towns, Saint Malo and Perros-Guirec. Visit Brittany’s Pink Granite Coast
Burgundy (Bourgogne Region)
The Bourgogne Region of France is located in the East-Central part of France. An oceanic climate makes it the perfect location for the vineyards. In my opinion, Bourgogne is one of the best wine regions in France. Ssh! Don’t tell Bordeaux. The red wines are dry, earthy, and complex, while the white wines are crisp and smooth. A few of the towns we discuss in the blog are Chablis and Auxerre. Dijon is the capital city of this region, where they create the famous mustard. Visit Bourgogne France
Loire Valley (Pays de la Loire Region)
The Loire Valley is located in central France. It has many towns along the Loire River. Here you will find a plethora of vineyards, chateaux, and dreamy vast sunflower fields. If you want to see grand castles, French countryside, and beautiful scenic biking and walking paths, then this is the region for you! Explore the Towns of Loire Valley
Lyon (Auvergne-Rhone Region)
Lyon is the capital of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region France. It’s the third largest city of France with a population of 500,000 people. This region is in southeast-central France. If you are a foodie, this is the region of France for you! Lyon is famous for its cuisine and silk products. It also houses the ruins of a Roman amphitheater. The Best of Lyon
Upper Normandy (Haute-Normandie Region)
Each region has its own capital. Upper Normandy’s region capital is Rouen. We haven’t visited Rouen, but we did visit the coast of Upper Normandy. The towns we explored were Etretat and Honfleur. This northern region of France has a jaw dropping coast line. The oceanside cliff-views and pebbly beaches make it a tranquil and scenic destination. It’s known for its cider, cheese, mussels, and seafood. Plan your seaside French retreat trip to Upper Normandy
Lower Normandy (Base-Normandie Region)
Lower Normandy is also known for its apple cider, Calvados, seafood, and cheese. This region of France is filled with the World War II sites and the famous Mont Saint-Michel. The historical museums and D-Day beaches dot the coastline. Many visitors choose to stay in either the city of Caen or Bayeaux as their base site while discovering Lower Normandy. Plan your two day trip to Historical Normandy
Strasbourg (Alsace Region)
Strasbourg France is located in the Alsace Region of France. This Northeastern region of France borders Switzerland and Germany. It is a cultural blend of German and French influences. This region is known for its charming timber framed architecture, delicious white wine, and Flammekueche. Tips for Visiting Strasbourg
Another town on the Alsace wine route is Colmar France. In my opinion, this is the most picturesque land-locked city in France.
